Last night a blew the dust off my beloved copy of Jack Dee at the London Palladium.
I used to watch this video over and over again and I was surprised that once he got into the flow of things I still remembered a lot of his routine off by heart like song lyics instilled in my head.
Considering his dead pan persona he does a cracking child face when required such as the police officer colouring in the bumble bee on his correspondance. His eyes are full of young innocence, his dopey grin so sweet and the odd dolphin croak laugh which perfectly depicts either the childlike or the stupid.
The material isn't especially cutting edge - although I am aware it is about 10 years old to be fair - but he has such a strong presence. He just does what he does so well. I'm engaged by everything he has to say - I want to hear more.
Think tonight I shall treat myself to another of my Jack Dee videos.
Nothing like a bit of nostalgia.
