Stewart Lee

Why on earth is Stewart Lee the 41st best stand-up ever?
I shall tell you for I have a theory.
I think… I THINK… it’s because he is incredible. He is incredible and he should not be the 41st best stand-up – he would be in my top ten any day.
I’ll admit that Stewart Lee was the first comedian I ever saw live and one of the first to ever get me into stand-up comedy – the art form which has subsequently engulfed my life – and thus I do have a bit of a soft spot for him. Seven years since I had first seen him I entered the somewhat random venue of a small village hall trying to remain unbiased and see him for the mediocre, passable excuse for a comic he surely is.
Unfortunately, he lived up to and then surpassed any expectation me and my pedestal could have placed on him. I say unfortunately because it makes his lack of commercial success all the more frustrating although, as he points out, probably a bit more frustrating for him. Selfish.
